Getting to Know You: Joel Ponce

Today you will get to know another one of our team’s members; Joel Ponce, Account Director.

WHOSAY: What’s the first thing you do as soon as you arrive in the office?

Joel Ponce: I typically start the day by grabbing a cup of coffee and reading relevant industry articles, making sure my morning-self agrees with my latest to-do list, and then acting on it. I’ve recently been reading more from Ad Age, Medium, and the Daily Insights provided by L2, Scott Galloway is the BOMB!

WS: What is your role at WHOSAY?

JP: I’m an Account Director based in Bentonville, AR. Our team is dedicated to helping Shopper Marketers grow their business through influence marketing. Feel free to reach out, always happy to help.

WS: What was your job before coming to WHOSAY?

JP: Most recently, I was at Simply Measured where I worked with brands and agencies to help them leverage social data. We often supported them in identifying influencers, measuring campaign performance, and creating audience profiles. Prior to that, I was at Saatchi & Saatchi X where I had the privilege to dive head first into all things retail and shopper marketing – primarily focused on Walmart and Procter & Gamble. WHOSAY balances my experience, shopper + social.

WS: What’s your secret life hack and/or productive hack?

JP: It’s all about people, surround yourself with the best of them and treat everyone with respect. On a different but semi-serious note, Chipotle. Quick and delicious bowls of goodness =)

WS: Share your advice with aspiring young people who want to break into your industry

JP: Change is constant and you will need a beginner’s mind to continuously evolve. Be curious, open, and approach life without preconceptions. All that said, if you’re up for it, it’s worth it! “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, in the expert’s there are few.” - Shunryū Suzuki

WS: What’s unique about your company?

WS: What are your favorite books or quotes?
