Getting2KnowU: Maddie Blake
The people that power WHOSAY, a Viacom company, are a blend of advertising, technology and media professionals who foster a spirit of creativity, commitment, innovation, and teamwork. And today, you will get to know another one of our outstanding WHOSAYers:
Name: Maddie Blake
Hometown: Pawling, NY
School: The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania
Role at WHOSAY: Sales Intern
Prior role: Last summer I interned at CAA-GBG Global Brand Management, which is pretty cool given that CAA incubated WHOSAY back in the day.
Dream creator(s) to work with: Aaron Judge, Ben Simmons, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Roberts, Emma Stone, anyone from the cast of The Office, Iliza Shlesinger, J. Cole, Drake, Chance the Rapper, and Hoodie Allen
Favorite thing about advertising: I love how dynamic and collaborative advertising is. With the social media landscape constantly changing, we’re adapting and learning from each other all the time.
Most challenging aspect of the industry: Effectively communicating with all of our clients. There are a lot of moving pieces involved in a campaign, so if we’re not on top of every detail, it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks.
Secret life hack: Color-coded stickies on my desktop to prioritize everything on my to-do list.
Interesting fact about yourself: My best friends and anyone from my freshman year calculus class (including the professor) call me Sunshine. I can’t really tell you how that started, but I have three theories: 1. It’s because of my (fake) blonde hair 2. The professor couldn’t remember my actual name or 3. I was the only person in the class who could get excited about integrals at 9am. It’s probably the third one.
Best advice you’ve ever received: Don’t drink the Kool-Aid.
If you woke up tomorrow as an animal, what animal would you choose to be and why?
After seeing how much love and free food Nash gets on a daily basis, I’d definitely say an office dog.
If you had your own late night talk show, who would you invite as your first guest?
Ali Wong! Her bits about relationships, being the breadwinner of her household, and motherhood are hilarious. I think I could learn a lot about being a successful modern woman from her.
If you had to delete all but 3 apps from your smartphone, which ones would you keep?
Instagram, Venmo, and Spotify
What are the last three emoji you used on your phone?
