Despite younger viewers flocking to Netflix, YouTube and other VOD options, television continues to be the lion share of kids’ media consumption, according to Cyma Zarghami, President at Nickelodeon Networks Group.
The television executive shared the remarks at Nickelodeon Upfront 2018 held Tuesday, March 6 at The Palace Theater in New York City. “Despite increased competition and seismic change in the industry, Nickelodeon remains the No. 1 home to the biggest hits on TV,” she also said.
Zarghami was preceded by an introductory video highlighting the diversity of Nickelodeon’s audience. Once she was on stage, and after she delivered the aforementioned quote, the Nickelodeon president gave WHOSAY a sweet shout-out by reminding the audience of major advertisers that Viacom had announced earlier in the year that it was acquiring the influence marketer.
It was an official industry welcome of sorts into the Viacom family for all attendees who were lucky to witness the moment when the WHOSAY logo was projected onto the state of the iconic Broadway venue, still decorated with props from SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical.
“That was a pretty neat moment,” said WHOSAY Content Manager Alex Marin at the following reception hosted at Edison Ballroom in Times Square. “It made you feel as though you are now in the big leagues.”
