Tim Allen is a comedian and actor who is known for his roles as Tim Taylor on "Home Improvement," and in the "Toy Story" and "The Santa Clause" film series. He currently stars as Mike Baxter on ABC's "Last Man Standing."
Tim discovered his love of the arts while attending high school at Ernest W. Seaholm High School, where he studied theater and music. After high school, he attended Central Michigan University before transferring to Western Michigan University, where he received a bachelor's degree in communications with a specialization in radio and television production. Tim started his stand-up career at local night clubs in Detroit, Michigan, where his talent was soon recognized. He was asked to appear on the comedy show "Some Semblance of Sanity" and moved to Los Angeles shortly thereafter to pursue his career in comedy. He became a regular performer at renowned Hollywood comedy club The Comedy Store before landing his first major role as Tim Taylor on the family sitcom "Home Improvement," which ran from 1991 until 1996.
In 1994, he was cast as the title character in "The Santa Clause," which was followed by two sequels in 2002 and 2006. In 1995, he joined the cast of Pixar's blockbuster "Toy Story" as the voice of Buzz Lightyear, which was also followed with two sequels in 1999 and 2010. He has since appeared in many successful films, including "American Wedding," "The Shaggy Dog," and "Zoom." In recent years, he has starred as Mike Baxter on the ABC sitcom "Last Man Standing."
Tim has been nominated for and won a variety of awards and has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Tim is married to actress Jane Hajduk. He has two daughters: Katherine and Elizabeth.
