Stefanie Graf's photo: I recently had the opportunity to read to some children at a friend's elementary school. The kids were sweet, a lot of fun to be around, and I hope they enjoyed the experience as much as I did. Its inspiring to see children learning. When Andre and I sit down with our own children to work on their homework every day, its always clear how much they would rather be outside playing after a long day of school. But it is also clear how important their education is to their overall development as well as their future. Talking with Andre and with so many of my friends with young children, its disheartening to hear stories of all the ways that our education system nationally, but particularly here in Nevada, is failing. There are no easy solutions but I believe that while we all push for improved school policies, teaching our children starts at home.
