I have experienced A LOT of cool things in my life... especially when Bella & her family taught me how to #LIVELIKEBELLA. Last night Ad Rock took me to Falmouth to check out the #GlisteningWaters aka #LuminousLagoon.
We stopped at this restaurant, ordered a beer at the bar & ordered some food. He said it was going to take a while so let's hop on a boat there's this really cool spot in a glistening lagoon to swim in.
The sky was jet black illuminated only by every star in the universe that looked like diamonds in the sky. He tells me to look at the motor & the black water is lit neon blue by the motion of the motor.
He tells me to put my hand in the water & unlike the cold, wild & rambunctious pacific ocean in LA that I never visit... it's super warm, calm & soothing. My hand lights up & a streak of blue is left behind me as we continue to venture across the water. I knew at that moment this was something that was going to stay with me until the day I DIE!
We get to the spot & it's like a party out there. 2 boats with tons of people swimming by them snapping pictures & laughing. Blue lights everywhere! Adam jumps in & waves of blue light surround him. Of course my black ass starts to get scared to dive in. After some coaxing I jump in feet first. Every stroke we made in the water the more the light emanated from our bodies under a black sky LOADED with #stars.
Then he tells me to put my feet down, the water is shallow & because of the heavy phosphorus in the water that turns the 4 ft of water blue the floor is slimy as HELL & it just creeped me out! Was not feeling that texture at ALL!
After 10 minutes of whining & screaming like a baby (I'm so freaking DRAMATIC!) & refusing to let go of Adam's arm as he keeps telling me to just let go & stand in it I finally trust him & do it. It was SO weird but I felt pretty accomplished. After a while it felt like my feet were in snow boots & I didn't mind the texture at all anymore. It became comforting.
He then convinced me to swim out to sea more. I told him I'm not a confident swimmer I'm better swimming on my back "then swim on your back GYAL!" he says loudly.
I get on my back, look up at the stars & get lost deeply into the largest one I can find for several minutes. Adam keeps talking to me but my ears are underwater, I can't hear him & for the first time in a really long time I am conscious of my breathing. I breathe terribly. Always feeling like the air is trapped in me because I often forget to exhale. In the water I take these long deep breaths in & out. With every exhale I am deeper in that star. I hear the fishes also & surprisingly it didn't freak me out they were soothing actually.
Deeper & deeper between the stars & the sea I go for several more minutes Adam worries & shakes me to get my attention. I look at him & realized that my life has forever been changed! So many fears I had before I jumped in just sank into the slimy surface. Once he realized I was ok we swam for a few minutes more.
We swim back to the boat & as we get out of the water all the water drops on our bodies are lit up & look like the stars above us... more diamonds. The reason behind this is that the water does this at a point where the Martha Brae River & ocean meet. Saltwater, freshwater & phosphorus create this ethereal phenomenon & only 4 places in the world have this occurrence. Indonesia, Bahamas, Puerto Rico & JAMAICA!!! I IMPLORE whoever is reading this to travel to any of these four destinations & experience this for yourself immediately! Tomorrow is not promised.
When we got back there was #BBQChicken, #CurryGoat, #riceandpeas & #beers waiting for us. Oh #Jamaica you are a VERY seductive lover... so very seductive & you are making it VERY hard for me to leave you tomorrow. #cheflife #vacationlife #singleserving #Trelawny #blackgirljustswamatNIGHTandwetherhair ♥
