Last week, J/P HRO’s Kay Kominote awarded 13 participants of the Edikasyon Se Youn Konvèzasyon (Education is a Conversation) workshop for completing a rigorous four-month training on violence and abuse. This workshop focused on addressing various forms of violence within the community and provided participants with a secure environment to voice their concerns and personal experiences with violence. Difficult topics were explored and discussed, such as domestic and sexual abuse. Participant testimonies highlighted the need for more platforms like these to tackle the stigma associated with these difficult social issues. “The certificate ceremony on September 12th was a good day in more ways than one. Not only did participants come together to celebrate their achievements, but also have committed to replicate some aspects of the training in their immediate surroundings. We congratulate them for their efforts and will continue to support them in their endeavors,” states Kamilah Morain, J/P HRO Community Project Manager.
Last week J/P HRO's Community Development Campus launched into a new session, bringing another round of adult education, after-school programs, and community outreach to the Delmas 32 neighborhood.
