ROMA Bio
“If you haven’t been to Roma!, you haven’t lived.” - Michael Musto
ROMA! One guy who sings. Four girls who play. But that’s just the tip of the Titanic-sinking iceberg that is Roma!, one of the newest and most original rock bands to rise from the steamy streets of the city that never sleeps. With a sound that falls somewhere between The Velvet Underground and Queen – and a neo-noir look that’s equal parts Federico Fellini and Raymond Chandler – Roma! is poised to crack the mainstream with their flamboyant brand of art rock.

Featuring an exotic cast of characters that includes breakout actress Jamie Clayton (HBO’s Hung and VH1’s TRANSform Me), Roma!’s live show is punctuated by vaudeville, burlesque, silent film, and an assortment of props that range from real weapons to gorilla suits. With only a handful of shows under their collective garter belt, Roma! is already drawing crowds by the hundreds at top New York City venues like Highline Ballroom and Santos Party House. In the words of iconic Village Voice columnist Michael Musto: “If you haven’t been to Roma!, you haven’t lived.”

Roma!’s 19-track debut The Wild Party chronicles the tragicomic goings-on at a Lower East Side house party in the Roaring Twenties. Produced by British ex-pat David Barratt (David Bowie, Robert Plant, Yellow Note) and based on the scandalous 1927 epic poem of the same name by Joseph Moncure March, The Wild Party is a punk rock opera that’s every bit as cinematic, sexually explicit and campy as The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Making cameo appearances on the skits between songs are downtown celebrities like the aforementioned Clayton and Musto, plus reality TV star Jeffrey Williams (2011 winner of Bravo’s The Fashion Show).

“We’re a New York band telling a New York story,” explains Roma!’s singer and founder, Stiletto. “Even though The Wild Party is technically set in the 1920s, it could just as easily be taking place anytime between then and now. The more New York changes, the more it stays the same.”
