Hi everyone,

Thanks to a really kind and patient volunteer, the two Pit Bulls who live with a homeless guy made it into Downtown Spay/Neuter Plus vet hospital today, just before closing.

The male dog ("Pistol") appears to be sicker than the female ("Diva"). I won't know how sick until tomorrow because the vet had gone home. They look fine in the photos but apparently the male is very weak and falls asleep on his feet because he is too uncomfortable to lie down. He has been vomiting and has bloody diarrhea.

The plan is to get them well enough to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped. The homeless guy wants them back, and we have to give them back unless there is evidence of pretty severe neglect, abuse, etc. The owner has been asking for help for days -- weeks really, before the dog got sick -- so I don't think there is any abuse or neglect here other than the fact that he cannot afford vet treatment.

I have a wonderful donor who has offered to pay for the spay and neuter. I have raised SOME money to pay for the other expenses: overnight boarding, bloodtest(s), medication, etc. We'll see what the vet says tomorrow. I might need to do a plea for more money, depending on what they need after the vet sees them tomorrow.

THANK YOU to everyone who expressed concern for these dogs -- I am doing my best to help them, and can't do it without all your wonderful networking and donations of time and money.

There are many more dogs out there with homeless people, and the more dogs/people we help, the more the word will spread that help is available. PLEASE SHARE this because donations are always welcome! Call Downtown Spay/Neuter Vet Hospital at (213) 493-4435 to donate by credit card or to mail a check for the OCCUPUPPY fund under my name, Analee Brodie. THANKS AGAIN! -Analee (909) 730-0675
