What I'm eating right now: "Pretty Popeye": Healthy Italian Ice Treat
Might not look that 'pretty', but it tastes damn GOOD/refreshing!
Together, spinach and strawberries complement and improve total nutritional value. One contributes nutrients that its counterpart lacks!
Whole fresh organic spinach leaves
Whole frozen organic strawberries
Just a few ice cubes, a little water, Unsweetened almond milk, Fresh squeezed orange juice - you decide your own ratio based on your taste levels, there is no wrong answer -
Blend well until everything is very finely chopped and place in the freezer for a few hours -
Eat with a spoon
The biggest advantages of eating strawberries and spinach together is that they complement one another to turn a little nutrition into something more substantial. If you ate 1 cup of either one alone, you would only get 2 percent of the recommended daily intake of zinc and thiamine and just 3 percent of the recommend daily intake of calcium and vitamin E. When they’re combined into one dish, you get double the nutrients.
When it comes to vitamin C and vitamin B-6, strawberries fill in the nutritional gap you would experience if you only ate spinach.
You’ll enhance the fiber content five times by eating 1 cup of strawberries with 1 cup of spinach. Strawberries and spinach contain soluble AND insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber lowers cholesterol by binding with it and carrying it out of the body. It also helps keep blood sugar balanced by slowing absorption. Insoluble fiber keeps food moving through the digestive tract and can prevents disease.
BEST USED: Without protein powder, it's best between meals as a treat or as a complement to a protein-based meal
AS A MEAL: You can experiment with this one since it's so simple - adding bananas, cashew milk, ETC! IF you decide not to freeze it and to instead add powdered protein - you can drink it as a smoothie and make it one of your meals.

Back in the day when I was competing in the actual fitness 'routine' division, my coach Cathy Savage taught me that the best fitness athletes can display '3' distinct traits while performing on stage: Strength, Endurance and FLEXIBILITY.
The last one is often lost on fitness folks even though it is a very important part of the getting in shape cycle (increased range of motion, anyone?). It's a misconception that in order to have muscle you have to sacrifice all flexibility. You have to work at it to maintain it -- like all things.
Whether you are training hard or just sitting at your desk day to day - muscles get TIGHT. Really tight. To the point where you can actually hurt yourself because you have very little to no flexibility...
Your hamstrings (backs of your legs) and your hip flexors (group of muscles that run from the tops of your thighs upward) are very important to keep limber because those muscle groups can protect the rest of your body from injury.
Pictured are '5' of my favorite "floor" hip flexor stretches.
Take it easy and go slow. These are much simpler if your muscles are already warm.
1, 3 and 5 are easy and can be done lightly or to a more 'extreme' degree depending on your own flexibility.
2 and 4 are more advanced stretches - HOWEVER if you are on a soft floor don't be afraid to try it out! GO EASY: They're like splits: practice in order to limber up.
***NOTE: Don't discount the basic 'standing' hip flexor/quad stretch -- that you can ALSO do lying face down on the floor (where you balance on one leg and bending one leg up behind you, hold it tight and pull toward your buttocks). I just didn't include it in my pics because it's the "basic" stretch
