5 Things You Didn't Know About Me
- Former professional tennis player, WTA ranked.
- When I was 19 years old I had a car accident and never could play tennis professionally again.
- I was born in the South of France, in a ''singular island''.
- I'm fluent in French,English and Spanish.
- I studied music and piano before I started acting.I graduated from the music and drama conservatory after 10 years with a piano Major.
I am Sarah. I was born and raised in the South of France. y artistic studies began with music. I am a music conservatory graduate where
I studied piano, solfège and singing for ten years . I have been training as a dancer since I was four years old, (ballet , modern jazz).
I have always been passionate about sports. When I was ten years old,I started playing tennis tournaments. At 15 years old, I moved to
South Florida to combine tennis and studies, where I graduated high school .Studies have been as important as tennis for me
(Anima sana in corpore sano). I turned professional when I was sixteen and was World ranked - top ITF juniors and WTA tour.
Playing tennis gave me the chance and opportunity to travel all around the world. This experience has given me and taught me a lot about
relationships.I have learned about being open-minded, tolerant, about friendship, sharing and giving. I learned how to live abroad, how
life can be in other places of the World,I learned to adapt to different situations, cultures and places. Tennis taught me to avoid
complaining , I learned to endure,to accept defeats, to learn from it and move on. It prepared me mentally.During a tennis tournament
in Mexico City, I met an influential person in my life : I met the artistic director's wife of Televisa , my future employer. She offered me
to audition for their school. Since I wanted to continue studying after my high school graduation: I met this person at the right time.
I auditioned and was admitted to the C.E.A (Drama Conservatory) of Televisa, Mexico. I got the opportunity to continue my training in acting, theater, film,TV,singing, dancing and TV hosting. Six months later, I got sick and had to travel to France. On my way back from
the hospital where I had been through series of health exams, my father fainted while driving , it ended in a terrible car accident.
The car was destroyed. My father did not suffer any injuries. I was sleeping and didn't see anything coming. I was transfered by helicopter, unconscious, with multiple fractures. I stayed many hours in a coma.I have suffered atrociously. Tennis taught me the ability to accept defeat and move on : I have lost most of the use of my right hand but I have had to learn how to use it differently. My right hand is an everyday challenge. After going through 18 surgeries during 6 weeks at the hospital, then 3 months in a rehabilitation center for intensive care and 3 years of rehabilitation,I felt ready and strong enough to go back to Mexico to finish what I had started. During those 3 years of physical therapy I decided to study filmmaking in Los Angeles at the New York Film Academy ( I wanted to understand a director's point of view). After completing this course, I was invited for an internship on set with Jerry Zucker as a camera intern. I pursued my studies in theater in Paris at the prestigious ''Cours Florent'' before going back to Mexico.During this time in Paris I got the opportunity to have small parts in different feature films,TV series and lead roles in theater plays. I went back to Mexico and graduated at the C.E.A. I worked for Televisa in four TV series and four theater plays until I decided to end my Mexican adventure as living there had been very difficult. The circle was now completed. I went back to France with many projects growing on my mind.I've learned, trained and worked as an actress in French and Spanish,so I continued in English eventually.I studied at the Stella Adler studio of acting completing one full term at NYU Tisch school of the arts.I wanted to know about a different method. I've been through a lot, I have suffered a lot .I've lost a hand but I feel lucky enough to have enough character and energy to stand up and fight. I want, through my experience, to give courage and hope to those who like me have been through a car accident, when they think that everything is over for them, life has given you another chance to live. My ultimate ambition, after the professional one, is to help others by creating a foundation, for hands injury, which will help injured people to find the desire to be alive, to build a new life with an even stronger base by helping them living a better social and professional life. That help will come from a financial support for the payment of their prosthetic hands which are very-very- expensive. I want through my image as an actress, to give a message of hope and to be a spokeswoman for young people who are victims of car accidents.
