June 21, 2012@NostalgicWandRr Global Guerilla Hijack Marketing is best explained through this picture... Systematic 'tagging' and taking hostage of a persons name and likeness. I've spent over two decades of my life in the 'music industry' and most of my early years surrounded by exceptional composers and musicians from around the world. Therefore, based on my humble experience I feel somewhat duty-bound to make a few comments here for the sake of our youth who wish to take careers in the field of music. I have never come across anything as vulgar, cheap and un-Islamic as this before (see pics). I'm very sad to say that what goes on in some so-called 'Islamic Music Labels' is utterly more degrading, unethical and un-Islamic than the so-called 'decadent' Western music industry. I hope such people will learn to act with more wisdom and prudence. This is far more damaging for their artist(s) than for myself. Many of the brothers signed to these labels are talented! They don't need this type of 'fame'. Fame and 'likes' at what expense? At the expense of degradation? commercial exploitation? Abuse? I would advise them and all my peers/colleagues to be very cautious and much more involved in their works… It's your basic right. I say this to my self first and then to all my brothers and sisters (especially the Labels and those in positions of influence): please remember that 'fame' is not the final goal; Allah's rida and pleasure is. We should remain humble and stop the over-fascination with acquiring more 'fans' or 'views' (at any expense). Put a stop to love of fame, wealth, dunya and acquisition of power. None of those things mean anything in the end. Only when remembering that 'I' am the 'Faqir' (or 'poor') and He is the 'Ghany' (the Rich) and that ALL true success and blessings come from Him will our works and initiatives be truly blessed. Wallahu alam.
