17 November 2012 Packing for France On the 22nd, when most of you will be enjoying/enduring Thanksgiving dinner with your families, I will be on a plane to France. I'm going for five weeks to intensively study the language. Why am I going in the dead of winter? Because it's totes cheaper yo.... But here's the thing, I am not a cold weather person. I grew up in Seattle where it rarely snows, I hated the coldish weather so much I moved to Southern California as soon as I turned 18. I tried living in New York, but had to move back to LA.... Fuck snow. Seriously. Fuck. Snow. And fuck cold weather. I hate it so much that I promptly donated all my cold weather clothing as soon as I was safely back on the west coast. And now I am going to France, in the dead of winter, where it is going to be super cold and shitty. It's France, so I want to look chic and Parisian, but I'm on a budget. I have maybe $200 to spend and I need enough warm weather stuff to get me through 5 weeks. Fortunately I kept my giant NYC coat, so I don't have to blow my whole budget on a coat. I have a few pair of nice, dark fancy jeans, maybe I should build the wardrobe around those? But I need sweaters and long sleeved stuff, definitely another warm flat shoe or boot. The pics are the coat, gloves, muff, boots I currently have, so I want the wardrobe to match. What do you think I should get with my $200 budget?
