Romany Malco's photo: Today @desafinada2, @AliShaheed, @OhMessyLife, Jeremy and I went into Far Rockaway where parents with toddlers and newborns were without food, water or electricity. We did everything from door to door delivery of hot meals, flashlights and blankets to helping people schlep carts filled with donated goods up and down the project towers. As usual, kids were in the best of spirits, setting a good example for adults. The volunteer turnout was incredible. So many generous people ready to help. Everyone was especially grateful and that made it all worth it. We worked hard and sweat hard only to learn there were communities 40 - 50 blocks away with little to no relief whatsoever. Lines for gas are 15 - 20 blocks long so many of the volunteers are without vehicles.
