Omar Epps

Omar Epps starred in the powerhouse hit Fox medical drama, “House,” for which he received an NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” in 2007, 2008 and 2011. He was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series” in 2005 as well as “Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series” in 2006 and again in 2009. The highly successful series ran for eight seasons and has been Emmy nominated for “Outstanding Drama Series” from 2006-2009.

Epps was also nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Best Actor for his performance in the December 2002 Showtime Original movie CONVICTION. Omar has starred in three HBO Original movies, FIRST TIME FELON directed by Charles Dutton, DAYBREAK co-starring Cuba Gooding Jr., and DEADLY VOYAGE produced by Danny Glover. This true story is about African stowaways on a ship bound for France. Once discovered by the French crew, each stowaway was killed off with the exception of one - Kingsley Ofusu. Omar portrayed Ofusu and won the Silver Nymph Award for Best Actor at the Monte Carlo Film Festival for this role.

Omar Epps made his film debut in 1992 in Ernest Dickerson’s urban drama JUICE. Epps stood out in his role as one of a group of four Harlem friends trying to make good. He went on to star in the college cult classic THE PROGRAM alongside Halle Berry, and in John Singleton’s acclaimed film, HIGHER LEARNING. From here, Omar also starred in Miramax/MTV’s THE WOOD, Miramax’s IN TOO DEEP with LL Cool J, and in the cult classic, LOVE AND BASKETBALL.

Omar’s other credits include Paramount’s ALFIE opposite Jude Law and Susan Sarandon, AGAINST THE ROPES opposite Meg Ryan, Takeshi Kitano’s BROTHER for Sony Classics, MGM’s remake of THE MOD SQUAD with Claire Danes, BREAKFAST FOR CHAMPIONS opposite Bruce Willis and Nick Nolte, and The Wayans’ Brothers DON’T BE A MENACE TO SOUTH CENTRAL WHILE DRINKING YOUR JUICE IN THE HOOD.

Epps has a production company called BrooklynWorks Films. Through his shingle, he has produced the musical feature film YOU, ME & THE CIRCUS. In addition, he has several other film and television projects in various stages of development, some of which he has written and will direct.

Omar began writing at the age of ten and attended the prestigious LaGuardia High School of Music, Art and Performing Arts in New York. He is very passionate about education and writing and continues to give back in these forums. In addition, Omar is launching the BrooklynWorks Foundation which will ultimately be an arts based non-profit organization that will work with under-privileged kids. Epps also serves on the advisory board of The Creative Coalition.

He now stars in ABC's Resurrection.
