Olivia De Jonge

Olivia was born in Melbourne on the 30th of April 1998. In October 2003 she and her family moved to Perth Western Australia where she commenced school at Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC) in Peppermint Grove, a riverside suburb of Perth.

It was early in 2006 that Olivia convinced her parents she wanted to learn to become an actor and was fortunate to be introduced to Nerida Moore and Naomi Hanbury of Actors Management Agency. Initially attending acting classes with Naomi she quickly proved to herself and her family that this was the love of her life and the career path she would choose.

Olivia’s first acting opportunity came in the form of a radio voiceover for a prominent hardware chain, this was in August 2008 at the age of 8. Since these early days she has gone on to become a sought after young voiceover specialist who has completed well over 40 radio advertisements.

As well Olivia has won lead roles in several television commercials, from being a very young girl on a lemonade stand for the RAC in 2008 to her most recent role as a young teenager enjoying a Red Rooster meal with her family in 2011.

In 2010 Olivia was offered the lead role of Ally in Maziar Lahooti and Dan Parry’s short film The Good Pretender. Shot over 5 days, the short is a story about a girl and her father, a returned Vietnam veteran, who is going through tough times as a single father and is in denial that his relationship with his daughter Ally is all it should be.

To combat this Ally chooses to live in a world of her own, pretending to be characters from her favorite action movie until things come to a head in a dramatic way!

For this performance Olivia was nominated for and won the 2011 24th Western Australian Screen Awards (WASA) Best Actress award presented at the University of Western Australia.

Along with its many screenings in Australia, The Good Pretender was a finalist in the Doorpost Film Project in the USA. Olivia’s performance earnt her further recognition as she was awarded the Best Breakthrough Performance by an Actor or Actress award presented by Francis Fisher.

In January 2012 Olivia was invited to attend the annual AFI/AACTA awards in Sydney New South Wales as a nominee for the Best Young Actor category, again for her role as Ally in The Good Pretender, on this occasion another amazing young actor won the award, Olivia hopes to be offered another opportunity sometime soon!

Olivia’s next project was as Beth in Steve Fleming and Emma Vickery’s short comedic film Polarised. In this role Olivia played a young lady with awaking emotions and feelings, how could she not take an interest in the handsome windsurfer?

It was then that Maziar Lahooti and Dan Parry again asked Olivia to play a small role in their feature The Short Film Maker, with one memorable scene in a supermarket, where she and her on-screen brother, played by Dan Parry have a disagreement about his motivations in life.

Eleven Thirty was Olivia’s next short film, directed by Rebecca Ciallella, produced by Miranda Edmonds and filmed by Denson Baker, Olivia played the character Sally, a similar role to The Good Pretender in that she was a member of another dysfunctional family, finding their way in the rugged Australian outback.

Olivia is represented in Australia by Theresa Huska from RGM, and in the USA by Nick Styne and Kami Putnam-Heist from CAA and is managed by Kelly Tiffan Management.

Olivia still resides in Perth Western Australia with her younger brother James and her mum and dad Robyn and Rob……..and her dog Buddy!
