BIOGRAPHY

Born in London and raised in New York, Mischa Barton began her acting career in Theater in 1994 where she trained with esteemed director/writers James Lapine (Twelve Dreams at Lincoln Center with Donna Murphy), Tony Kushner (Slavs! at New York Theater Workshop with Marisa Tomei), and Naomi Wallace (One Flea Spare at the Public Theatre with Dianne Wiest). She went on to work alongside screen icons Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant in Notting Hill, Bruce Willis and Toni Collette in The Sixth Sense and Sam Rockwell in the critically acclaimed Sundance film Lawn Dogs produced by Duncan Kenworthy. In 2012, Barton returned to her theatrical roots starring in Steel Magnolias at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin.

She recently completed filming the romantic comedy Mining for Ruby for director Laura Zoe Quist and is currently filming the drama Beyond Justice with co-stars Danny Trejo and Vinnie Jones. This fall, Barton will begin filming the horror feature film Zombie Killers: Elephant’s Graveyard. Slated to be released in late 2013 is the historical-drama Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain which Barton stars opposite Martin Sheen.

Barton’s additional film credits include Homecoming, Walled In, Assassination of a High School President, Virgin Territory and Closing the Ring, starring opposite Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer.
On television, for three seasons, Barton portrayed Marisa Cooper, on FOX’s wildly popular drama The O.C. The show earned several awards including a Television Critics Association Award nomination for Outstanding New Program of the Year. Barton also starred in The CW drama series The Beautiful Life.

In 2012 she launched Mischa Barton boutique, in fashionable Spitalfields, East London which retails her own line of handbags, clothes and accessories.
Barton is the spokesperson for "Climate Star", an organization that fights global warming through social and legislative activism. She serves as an "Entertainment Industry Foundation" ambassador teaming up with QVC to spread awareness and raise funds for women's cancer research through the "Fashion Footwear Association" of New York "Shoes on Sale Initiative," and is also involved in the "SAFE" campaign for skin cancer awareness. She is an ambassador for "Save the Children" and the "One Water" campaign which brings water to remote locations in Africa, and is on the board of the "Lupus Research Committee" in Los Angeles.
