Not since the invention of the original sin has Israel had such a hot export. Described as "Extremely Gorgeous..." by the New York Times and "Breathtaking" by Variety Magazine. Meital (pronounced "Mey-tål") was born Meital Dohan in Tel Aviv.
No stranger to the spotlight, Meital is an award-winning actress in theater, film, and television; including two Israeli Oscar nominations for her performances in God's Sandbox and Giraffes and an Israeli Tony for Most Promising New Actress for her work with the renowned Cameri Theater. She was also principal star in the Israeli Emmy Award-Winning Ugliest Esti - the Israeli version of Ugly Betty. Among many other roles, Meital has authored a number of successful plays and the book "Love & Other Bad Habits".
US audiences were first introduced to Meital as Yael Hoffman on Showtime's Weeds and as Aurora in the Sony Pictures web comedy Woke Up Dead, co-starring Jon Heder and Wayne Knight. Meital also stars in the upcoming feature, Foreclosure, with Michael Imperioli and Wendell Pierce. Her most recent film, Monogamy (Oscilloscope), co-starring Chris Messina and Rashida Jones, won the Best Narrative Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival and received rave reviews. Meital's recent TV show project "Meital Saves the World" is currently in development and attracting a lot of interest.
On stage, Meital recently co-starred as Abby with John Ventimiglia (The Sopranos) in the Off-Broadway and LA productions of Anthony Neilson's play Stitching, which is now being developed into a feature film directed by Bernard Rose (Candy Man).
In 2011 the Israeli bombshell caught the attention of mega hip-hop producer Che Pope (Lauryn Hill, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Kanye West) and they began to record her debut album "I'm In Hate With Love". The success of her first single, "Yummy" (Rami Afuni, LMFAO), in early 2012 has been featured on media outlets like MTV's Buzzworthy Blog, AOL, Maxim, Artist Direct, MTV, and MTVU where Meital got phenomenal reviews including being called " a renaissance woman" and "pop's new triple threat" among others. This caught the attention of many top execs, promoters and dj's in the music industry. The video has continuously ranked in the top 10 most popular videos on MTV U, #1 Globally Trending Song on REVERBNATION, ranked #3 on French Club Charts and more.
Venue's quickly picked up the track and began booking Meital for performances in clubs across the world from NY to LA, Vegas, Miami, San Francisco, Europe, as well as some of the largest music festivals around the country including: Winter Music Conference, The Dinah Shore, and White Party. Promoters for The Dinah Shore name her "one of five artists to watch."
Her latest hit single entitled, "On Ya" ft. Sean Kingston charted on Billboard Club Chart in US and hit no. 13 on UK Club Pop Charts even before its release in early Spring 2013. This official music video, directed by Ray Kay (Gaga's 'Poker Face', Brittany's 'Till the World Ends', Benny Benassi's 'Spaceships') received almost 4 million views in just one short month! It's been called a "hit" by MTV Buzzworthy and PopCrush, and praised as “being set for global domination.” VIBE also featured Meital's Behind the Scenes Video saying "Meital Dohan manages to flip the bubbly genre on its face with thoughtful lyrics and soul-searching concepts."
