Max Joseph is a filmmaker whose innovative work spans the internet, television and film. Joseph is currently writing his first feature film for Working Title Films that he will direct later this year.
Joseph is known for his inventive viral films that have screened at festivals including Sundance, Telluride, and SXSW. The films have been exhibited at LACMA, BAM, the Gagosian Gallery in New York and have been featured on the front pages of YouTube, FunnyOrDie and DailyMotion, accumulating over 30 million views so far. Joseph has directed and edited award-winning commercials for brands such as Nike, Pepsi, Starbucks, TOMS and Toyota Prius. This past year, Joseph's Follow the Frog commercial won TED's prestigious Ads Worth Spreading Challenge and a bronze Cannes Lion for "short form internet film" in March and June, respectively. Joseph's most recently launched film, 12 Years of DFA Records: Too Old to be New has already received critical acclaim and was released as part of the Red Bull Music Academys music festival in New York. Earlier in his career, Joseph served as Creative Director of Video at GOOD Magazine where he wrote and directed over 60 short films.
Joseph appears in front of the camera as a co-host on MTVs Catfish series; the networks most successful show, which is currently in production on its second season.
Joseph is from New York City and currently resides in LA.
