Katrina Parker grew up in the small town of Holly Ridge, North Carolina. Part of a large outgoing family, she was always more on the shy side, but that didn’t stop her passion for music. She received a degree in vocal performance and moved to Los Angeles, where she worked a day job and pursued music in the evenings.
Some health issues forced Katrina to take a 2 year break from music. Soon after her recovery, a friend convinced Parker to attend an L.A. audition for season 2 of NBC’s hit show The Voice. She secured a spot on Team Adam led by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. It was there she got caught up in what she called, “a fabulous tornado! It was the most magical and transformative thing I’ve ever experienced.”
With a voice described as “powerful but tender,” “passionate” (LA Times) and “flawless,” the L.A. singer/songwriter went on to become a fan favorite, a Top 8 Semi-Finalist and “the embodiment of [The Voice]” (Rolling Stone). Stunning live performances of songs such as Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts” as well as the The Fugees “Killing Me Softly” won America’s hearts and prompted Christina Aguilera to exclaim “Take a look at Katrina Parker because she’s a star,” a sentiment echoed by fans around the world.
Parker is now working on her debut album, which is set to release in Summer 2013 and can best be described as pop music for grown ups.
