December 15, 2011A delicious batch of California walnuts arrived at my house yesterday and inspired me to toast up some walnuts for an evening snack. To toast in the oven, spread the walnuts in a single layer on a baking sheet (dry, no oil needed) and bake in a 350 degree oven for 8-10 mins. For stovetop nuts, toast in a dry skillet over medium-high heat for 3-5 mins. You can also warm the walnuts in the microwave for 5-6 mins, stirring every 2 mins. An ounce of walnuts (14 halves) = 185 cals, 18g fat (1.5g sat fat), 4g carbs, 2g fiber, 4g protein, 0mg sodium
