Jesse Tyler Ferguson is an actor who is best known for his role as Mitchell Pritchett on ABC's "Modern Family."

Jesse knew he wanted to be an actor from a young age, and joined the Albuquerque Children's Theater at age eight. Jesse starred in his high school's rendition of "Bye Bye Birdie" as Albert Peterson, and went on to attend The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City in 1994. While living in New York City, Jesse acted in on and off-Broadway shows, including the Tony Award-winning "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," where he played Leaf Coneybear. His first major motion picture role was in the 2008 film "Untraceable" starring Diane Lane.

Jesse's role on "Modern Family" began in 2009, for which he has won three consecutive Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series from 2010 to 2012. He is a dedicated advocate for same-sex marriage rights, co-founding the civil rights organization called "Tie the Knot" with then-fiance Justin Mikita.

Jesse married Justin Mikita on July 20, 2013. They live in Los Angeles, California.
