Jean-Philippe Rio-Py is an acclaimed French composer and pianist. His music, infused with natural virtuosity and powerful emotion, is an invitation for the listener to escape, dream and offer a sense of hope in both the darkest and happiest of times. He began his special relationship with music in Poitiers as as child, using an old piano and learning to play by ear and composing songs in his head as solace from the hardships of childhood.
As an young adult, Jean-Philippe moved to the UK and his talents were quickly realized under the tutelage of Michael Freeman, and earned a degree in music composition. During his formalised studies, he performed at such prestigious venues the Jacqueline du Pre Building and Hollywell Music Room, engaging audiences with his heartfelt gift.
From there he has quickly earned accolades such as being chosen as a Young Steinway Artist, an honour previously given to such artists Diana Krall and Billy Joel, to providing the score for several documentaries, including "One Hyde Park". Notable recent performances include features at the Royal Opera House, the opening of the Arts Club in Mayfair, and at Steinway Hall. Jean-Philippe has composed music for labels such as Air-Edel, EMI and Warner, while some of his other works have recently been broadcasted by ITV and BBC, and featured in ad campaigns by Hulu, Samsung,etc.
