22 May 2012 Happy Birthday to my brother from a furry mother, my best pal in the world, and my own personal dire wolf, Dr. Wesley Von Spears! Today he turns NINE. His present is me not going out for the first night in two weeks, watching reality TV, and throwing the ball 1000x. This is him right this moment.

21 May 2012 Last night we played the party game Mafia, and at one point we got into an extremely heated argument about the rules. This isn't exactly a rare occurrence, as there are few people more insanely competitive than myself, Michael Rosenbaum & David Yarovesky. Our good friend SunJa Knapp was snapping photos of us fighting the whole time - something I was only dimly aware of in my rage - and today she put together this little piece (it also features Matthew Bone, who, in fairness, was quite a bit more measured than the rest of us.) I was upset and embarrassed when I woke up this morning that I had gotten into such a loud conflict with friends I love so much. But now that there's this photo, I'm happy I did. Go figure. Thanks, Sunja!

17 May 2012 Some of you have asked for another photo of my foster cat Emily, since it's been nearly three weeks, so here you go. Recently, the wireless went out in my house. My assistant discovered it was because this dick here had chewed up all the wires. So now we've covered all the wires in the house with double-sided sticky tape and cayenne pepper. This photo was taken on my lap yesterday when I was about to meditate, but she decided I was in a pretty good cat-petting position.

17 February 2012 I just got back from the vet. The stray cat I let into my house a couple days ago - Emily Monster is what I'm calling her now - was not happy to be there. She wailed like crazy in the crate the whole way there. They put us in a room that was right next to the door where people came into the back and she screeched at every person who came through the door to come save her from me. She was being ridiculous! Anyway, the vet was very nice. Here's what we found out: She is almost certainly about 8 months old. She's not chipped. The vet says she has the personality of a cat who didn't like where she lived (because of inattentive people, too many cats, etc, etc) and ran away, or of a cat who was dumped. But of course that's all just a guess - the main point is, she's not feral. She is probably not pregnant, but I won't know for sure until I bring her back for her next round of boosters in three weeks. She has no ear mites and seems relatively healthy, but I'll find out more when I get the results of the blood work and the stool sample tomorrow. Whatever the case, she seems in good health so far. Overall, she's been completely comfortable in my house, except for when Von Spears gets too close. Last night I had a bunch of people over and she came out to socialize, so she's not shy. I am probably not going to keep her - I am allergic to cats (mildly, it seems, to her) and it is probably not fair to Von Spears. But I will let her stay here as long as she needs and will find a very, very good home for her, hopefully with a close friend. She's an amazing cat, and I like having her around.
