Gregory de la Haba's photo: Yesterday's lunch at the studio of legendary photographer Gilles Lorrain and fashion designer wife Louda capped off a remarkable five day art whirlwind frenzy surrounding Frieze Art Fair's inaugural with my dealer Petra Leene from Amsterdam. Gilles was friends with Warhol, Mapplethorpe, Miles Davis and a host of other art/fashion/music world luminaries and photographed them all. Ryan McGinley wrote the intro to the republished & groundbreaking book ICONS- intimate studio shots of famous and not so famous transvestites, party people and Warhol's factory peeps from the early 70's. What stories this man tells! And the photos!!!!
