June 20, 2012There are many reasons for California to continue to invest in public higher education but this is one of the strongest: A college degree results in economic payoff for all ethnic groups. However, a college degree provides the greatest payoff to African American students. Those with BA will spend six fewer years in poverty than those with a high school degree. It is the largest gap for any ethnic group.
