Gavin Newsom is the current Lieutenant Governor of California.
Gavin attended Santa Clara University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science in 1989. His first political experience was in 1995 when he volunteered for Willie Brown's mayoral campaign. In 1996 he was appointed to the Parking and Traffic Commission, and was later elected as president. The next year, San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown elected him to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, where he was the youngest member. Gavin ran for mayor in 2003 and was sworn into office in 2004. In 2009, Gavin received an endorsement from Bill Clinton to run for Governor of California, but dropped out of the race in late 2009. In 2010, he won the election to become California's Lieutenant Governor.
Gavin is a fourth-generation San Franciscan who currently lives in Kentfield, California. Gavin married actress Jennifer Siebel in 2008 and the two have three children together: Montana Tessa, Hunter Siebel, and Brooklynn.
