David Barrera Snapshot
David Barrera is familiar to television audiences from his numerous appearences on hit shows including Heroes, CSI: Miami, The Closer, Boston Legal, Medium, Nip/Tuck, Without a Trace, The West Wing and 24 for which he received an ALMA Award nom-ination.
Most recently David was thrilled to play Gunnery Sgt. Ray 'Casey Kasem' Griego in the critically acclaimed Generation Kill, a seven part HBO Miniseries which follows twenty-three marines of First Recon who spearheaded the blitzkrieg on Iraq during the summer of 2003. Generation Kill is executive produced by David Simon and Ed Burns, creators of the critically acclaimed The Wire.
On film, David was most recenly seen in Universal’s family comedy Evan Almighty starring Steve Carrell. Other film credits include Infinity with Matthew Broderick, The United States of Leeland, starring Don Cheadle, and No Way Back, with Russell Crowe. Barrera is currently touring festivals for Cruzando, an independent film shot in his home town of San Juan, Texas.
David received his BFA from the prestigious acting conservatory at Southern Methodist University and was awarded his MFA from the Professional Actor Training Program at The University of California, San Diego. While at U.C.S.D he was awarded the Princess Grace Award in acting.
He resides in Los Angeles with his talented wife, actress Maria Canals-Barrera and their two beautiful daughters.
