June 19, 2012Can anyone help these kittens? hey were born to a stray mother in downtown LA who was infected with the herpes virus, and they have deformed eyelids that cause many hairs to scrape across their corneas with every blink. Their eyelids are misshapen -- they can't open or close their eyes very easily, and scar tissue obscures their vision. But they CAN SEE and will be perfectly adoptable once their eyes are fixed. The surgery was estimated at $1,800 per kitten to freeze the hair follicles, or up to $3,000 per kitten to re-construct their eyelids.
There is $900 donated so far and their is a very kind donor that will match whatever we can raise toward the surgery costs to have her trusted ophthamalic surgeon, DR. MICHAEL CHANG of VCA West LA, save these kittens eyes and lives.
There is a chipin:
Or you can paypal Analee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would prefer to donate directly to Dr. Chang's office, that can be arranged. The staff is super nice. They cannot start an account for the kittens until they have been seen by Dr. Chang, but that appointment is THURSDAY, JUNE 21.
