Lisa Edelstein is about to make TV history. The actress, best known for her role as Dr. Lisa Cuddy in the hit show “House,” will be playing the lead role in “Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce,” an hour-long original series produced by Marti Noxon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") that will be Bravo’s first-ever scripted show.

Lisa was understandably thrilled, and took to WhoSay to announce the good news.

The series is based on Vicki Iovine “Girlfriends’ Guide” book series and will center around Abby (as played by Lisa), a newly divorced self-help book author who tries to hide the fact that her own life is falling apart. Eventually, she turns to her divorced friends for advice on how to navigate the Los Angeles dating world.

The series also stars Janeane Garofalo as Lyla, a no-nonsense Hollywood attorney, and Beau Garret (“Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior”) as Phoebe, a recent divorcee and former model.

The pilot won’t air until 2015, but we’re already excited to see how Bravo will manage its first scripted show. Congratulations, Lisa!
