Why Did Oprah Cancel Her 60th Birthday Party?

Birthday party or not, we are still going to celebrate the Queen of Talk Shows.

It's not everyday the queen of talk television turns 60. And it's not everyday she chooses to spend the big birthday quietly at home.

Oprah Winfrey, who rose from humble origins to become one of the wealthiest and most influential media moguls, had previously said she would have "the biggest blowout party I can dream of" to celebrate the big birthday.

However, the actress and producer—whom fans say was snubbed by the Academy Awards this year for her performance in "The Butler"—opted for a spinning class and a quiet dinner. The reason? "The guest list was getting out of control."

Perhaps the inspirational figure, who often advises to live well by focusing on the little things in life, decided at the last minute to trade Hollywood glitz and glamour for a more intimate (and fulfilling?) celebration with a small circle of loved ones.

Happy Birthday, Oprah!
