Matthew McConaughey Does It Again
The "Dallas Buyers Club" actor stars alongside Woody Harrelson on HBO's new drama "True Detective," which will premiere on January 12.
There's no doubt 2014 is the year of Matthew McConaughey. In addition to "The Wolf of Wall Street" and "Dallas Buyers Club," which gained him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor, Matthew is also set to co-star with Woody Harrelson on HBO's new drama "True Detective," which premieres on January 12.
McConaughey and Harrelson play Rust Cohle and Martin Hart, two detectives who reopen a "bizarre ritualistic murder" case from 1995 after new evidence comes into light. Click here to watch the trailer.
The series was written and created by Nic Pizzolatto, and also stars Michele Monaghan ("Mission Impossible III") as Maggie, Hart's wife. Kevin Dunn ("Veep") plays Major Quesada, the supervising officer during the 1995 investigation.
The show, picked up by HBO in April 2012, will run a first season of eight episodes beginning January 12. Pizzolatto wrote all the episodes, and Cary Fukunaga will direct them.
"True Detectives" season one, set in Louisiana from 1995 to 2012, uses an "anthology format," meaning each season will feature different stories and casts of characters.
