Lorde is once again proving she's a "pure heroine." The award-winning singer announced that she will be curating the "Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Pt. 1" soundtrack and contributing the lead single, breathing life into the story behind the another famous heroine, the film's protagonist Katniss.

"I sat down with Lorde on the set of 'Mockingjay' this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film," the "Hunger Games" director Francis Lawrence said in a statement. "Her immense talent and keen understanding of 'Mockingjay’s' characters and themes not only have enabled her to create a song of her own that completely captures the film’s essence, but her insight and passion for our project make her the perfect creative force to assemble the other songs on our soundtrack."

Lorde explained, "[C]urating the soundtrack for such a hotly-anticipated film was a challenge, but I jumped at the chance. The cast and story are an inspiration for all musicians participating and, as someone with cinematic leanings, being privy to a different creative process has been a unique experience. I think the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.”

This isn't the first time Lorde has played a part in the dystopian film. For the soundtrack to the previous movie "Catching Fire," Lorde sang a cover of Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants To Rule The World." However, this time around she is stepping up to the plate and not just contributing, but ruling—much like the series' main character, Katniss, the Mockingjay.

The new "Hunger Games" premieres on November 21.
