It seems like Stannis finally realized that the phrase "the night is dark and full of terrors" is a bit more important than he originally thought.

According to "Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the stoic character Stannis Baratheon will be taking center stage in Season 5.

Why? Well because the would-be king finally realized that fighting for the throne isn't nearly as important as fighting to protect the people of Westeros. As Martin said, "Stannis has realized that he’s going about this all wrong. He’s been trying to become king to save the realm, when he should’ve been saving the realm to become king.”

At the recent Comic-Con, the showrunners explained another reason why Stannis will finally get his moment in the next season.

"He's a fascinating character and amazingly well drawn by [actor] Stephen Dillane," Weiss said. "[W]e will be taking advantage of both the character and the actor in the season.”

That's music to our ears.
