One year after the Boston Marathon tragedy, runners have returned in droves to the streets of Boston to participate in the race and pay tribute to the 260 people injured and three who were killed.

With nearly 36,000 athletes participating (almost 9,000 more than last year's count) and over a million spectators expected to line the streets, tighter security is being enforced by 3,500 police officers and 100 cameras monitoring the crowds.

Olympic medalist and Sochi Olympic correspondent Summer Sanders has been training for the marathon for months, and is now giving us a preview of the action at the 2014 Boston Marathon.

The 26.2-mile race began at 9:32 this morning for the elite women, 10 a.m. for the elite men and first three waves of runners, and 10:40 a.m. Click here to watch live streaming of the event.
