If you’re not a fan of James Maslow already, here’s little story that should win you over.

A few weeks ago, Hannah, a lovely fan from Ohio, asked James to her prom. He couldn’t make it, so instead he made another dream come true. We gave him a call to get you all the exclusive details, but here’s how the story starts—Hannah's touching prom proposal:

Unfortunately, his killer moves on “Dancing with the Stars” kept him from attending the prom (you know he would if he could!). To make it up to her, James flew Hannah and her family out to L.A., took them to Disneyland, and gave them VIP tickets to see him perform live on “Dancing with the Stars.” On Friday, Hannah’s school played this video to let her know:

Here’s the inside scoop from James.

WhoSay: How did you hear about the proposal?

James Maslow: I had seen the proposal on Twitter; it started out with a couple of fans and then a lot of fans—I felt bad because I did not know what to do, since I knew I couldn’t make it, but then I came up with this and hopefully it’s even better.

WhoSay: What made you say yes to this video?

James: I was touched by how supportive her schoolmates friends and family are – I wanted to show your dreams really can come true. Since it got so much support from the community, it seems like we should do all we can to let great things happen for good people. I’m excited to be able to be a part of this for Hannah and her family.

WhoSay: Did you go to your own prom?

James: I did. I was lucky enough to go all four years; I was invited as a freshman and sophomore and then got to go as an upperclassman. I had a great time at all of them.

WhoSay: What’s your favorite thing to do at Disneyland?

James: Space Mountain, and we definitely went on that.

WhoSay: What was Hannah’s?

James: She did not like tower of terror. She was a great sport about it, but I don’t think it was her jam. I think either Space Mountain or the Matador were her favorites—maybe Space Mountain might be her favorite since I told her it’s mine.

WhoSay: Did you or your partner, Peta Murgatroyd, teach her any dance moves for the actual prom?

James: Yesterday we had the chance to give her a private dance lesson in the studio and then she came back later in the dress she is going to wear to prom. She had some moves. We showed her some of what Peta had taught me and I got to dance with her to her favorite Big Time Rush song. She picked “Amazing,” which is a song I wrote with the band.

WhoSay: What are you going to remember most about this experience?

James: Hannah was so composed for almost all of our time together, and I am so impressed with how mature and thoughtful she is. Yesterday when we were dancing to “Amazing,” I started singing along to the chorus to her. She started really giggling. Seeing her let loose and giggle and laugh and dance made all so full of joy of it so worthwhile.

WhoSay: How does it feel to get to give back in such a nice way?

James: It was so cool to be able to fly her out here. Spending as much time with her as I can while she’s out here has been great. The majority of the time was without cameras, but some of it might be on the show tonight. It’s rare that you have that chance to change someone’s life, and I’m thrilled that I’m in a position to be able to do so.

WhoSay: So it’s Disney week on "DWTS"—what was your favorite Disney Movie growing up?

James: “The Lion King.” I still love that movie.

WhoSay: What can we look forward to in your dance tonight?

James: This week we have Contemporary, and it’s the most collaborative dance we have done since it’s a subjective dance a nice collaboration between the movements. We have about four lifts where I’m throwing Peta and catching her in the air. The last one is pretty intense so I’m crossing my fingers that I catch her in the end.

WhoSay: Anything else you want to add?

James: Shout out to lil’ sister Lily, who is so strong and they are lucky to have her in that family. What a sweet girl and lovely family to get to spend this time together.

Catch James Maslow on “Dancing with the Stars” tonight at 8 p.m. EST on ABC, and click here to cast your vote, or call 1-800-868-3402 during the show.
