7 Most Anticipated Movie Sequels

Now that Samuel Jackson has hinted he'd be back for a sequel to the 2004 hit animated film "The Incredibles," fans of some of the most epic movie franchises have even more cause to celebrate. From action-packed car-racing blockbusters to epic adventure films, here are the seven most anticipated movie sequels coming your way. 

1. "Fast and Furious 7"  

Almost four months after the sudden and untimely death of Paul Walker, "Fast & Furious 7" is resuming filming in April. Set to premiere on April 10, 2015, producers will use CGI and doubles to complete some of the late actor's scenes. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Lucas Black star, while James Wan directs.   

2. "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" 

The sequel to "Rise of the Planet  of the Apes" (2011) premieres July 11. Starring Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, and Keri Russell, the film was directed by Matt Reeves. "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" follows a growing nation of genetically evolved apes that is threatened by a band of human survivors of a devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier.

3. "Sharknado 2: The Second One" 

Because shark happens, the sequel to the 2013 Syfy film "Sharknado" is scheduled for a release on July 31. Starring Ian Ziering, Vivica Fox, and Tara Reid, the movie is directed by Anthony C. Ferrante

4. "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" 

A sneak peek of the final installment of "The Hobbit" film series was shown at the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas. Additionally, an early cut of "There and Back Again" will be shown by director Peter Jackson to Warner Bros. executives next week. "We are done with filming and they have a bit of motion capture left to do and I have a lot of post-production voice-synching," actor Richard Armitage said. "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" is scheduled for release in December.  

5. "The Incredibles 2"  

If you liked this scene from "The Incredibles," then you'll love the hint Samuel Jackson dropped about the sequel to the 2004 Pixar animated movie. Jackson, who plays the voice of Frozone, said he'd be back for "The Incredibles 2," currently in the works, because "Frozone would be a wonderful addition to what's already there."

6. "Jurassic World"

Previously known as "Jurassic Park 4," "Jurassic World" is scheduled to premiere on June 12, 2015. Directed by Colin Trevorrow, the movie stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, and Nick Robinson.   

7. "Star Wars: Episode VII" 

Picking up where "The Return of the Jedi" left off, "Star Wars: Episode VII" will be set 30 years after "Episode VI." Written, directed, and produced by J. J. Abrams, and set for a December 2015 release, the movie will feature beloved character R2-D2 as well as "a trio of new young leads"—possibly including Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o ("12 Years a Slave"). 

BONUS: "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" 

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, and Jamie Foxx, the sequel to "The Amazing Spider-Man" (2012), which will arrive in theaters on May 2, is directed by Mark Webb. (To watch the preview, click here).
