Angelina Is "Maleficent" on the Cover of EW
Evil never looked so good.
This is the evil (and stunning) face of Disney's reinvention of "Sleeping Beauty."
Directed by Robert Stromberg and starring Angelina Jolie, Sharlto Copley, Elle Fanning, and Sam Riley, Disney's live action remake of the 1959 animated film "Sleeping Beauty" flips the narrative by telling the classic tale from the point of view of the villain, Maleficent.
The movie, in theaters May 30, details the backstory of Disney's iconic villain and reveals the actions that ultimately turn her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge, Maleficent eventually places a curse upon the king's daughter Aurora, who is torn between the forest and the human kingdoms—both of which hold her love and legacy. "It is really funny when people say you’d be obvious for a great villain," Angelina told EW during her first in-depth interview about the classic role.
