Andrew McCarthy has appeared in more than two dozen films, including The Joy Luck Club, The Spiderwick Chronicles, as well as such iconic movies as Pretty in Pink, St, Elmo’s Fire, Less than Zero, and cult favorites, Weekend at Bernie’s, and Mannequin.
He has starred on Broadway and appeared on numerous of television shows, including Lipstick Jungle, Law&Order, and Royal Pains, as well as White Collar and Gossip Girl (both of which he also directs).
In a parallel career, Andrew is one of the travel industries leading writers, having twice won the Society of American Travel Writers “Grand Award” - Travel journalist of the Year, (Gold 2010 & Silver 2011) as well the 2011 North American Travel Journalists Association, “Grand Award”, and the 2011 Folio Award for Best Travel Story. He is an Editor-at-Large for National Geographic Traveler, he has written for The New York Times, The Atlantic, Travel + Leisure, The Wall Street Journal, Slate, Bon Appetit, Men’s Journal, The Huffington Post, and Afar, to name a few. He is the co-editor of “Lights, Camera…Travel” a travel anthology published by Lonely Planet, his memoir, “The Longest Way Home,” will be published by Free Press in September of 2012.
