America Ferrera is an actress who is best known for playing the leading role of Betty Suarez on ABC's "Ugly Betty."
America's first professional role was for The Disney Channel's "Gotta Kick It Up!" in 2002. She went on to attend Northwestern University to study theatre and shortly thereafter made her feature film debut in "Real Women Have Curves." Her other notable works include "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," "How to Train Your Dragon," and "It's a Disaster." In addition to appearing on television and in films and off-Broadway, America has been named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world. She won a Golden Globe in 2007 for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series—Comedy or Musical for "Ugly Betty."
In June 2011, America married actor Ryan Piers Williams, whom she met while she was studying film at the University of Southern California.
